Quick answer: The Sig P365X is a P365 with a taller grip. The slide, 3.1-inch barrel, 5.8-inch length and listed 17.8-ounce weight are the same. The P365X’s grip is half an inch taller (4.8 vs 4.3 inches), which fits a 12-round magazine instead of 10, and it comes with a flat trigger, an optic-ready slide and an accessory rail. If you carry appendix, the question is simple: are two more rounds and a fuller grip worth half an inch more grip to hide? If you want a bigger P365, Sig’s P365-XMACRO is 5.2 inches tall and 6.6 inches long with 17-round magazines, at the same listed 1.1-inch width as the P365X (see below).

Specs from Sig Sauer’s product pages for the P365 (365-9-BXR3), P365 Optic Ready (365-9-BXR3P) and P365X (365X-9-BXR3P), checked October 3, 2026. Both models are also sold in manual-safety versions, and 10-round P365X versions exist for states with magazine limits.
The Real Difference Is the Grip
Put the P365X next to the optic-ready P365 and the list of differences gets very short: half an inch of grip, two rounds of capacity, and the trigger shape. Everything above the grip is the same gun.
That half inch adds more grip above your belt, which is the part that pushes against your shirt, and it’s where the 12-round magazine fits.
Which Is Easier to Conceal?
The P365. Less grip above the belt means less to push against your shirt when you bend or reach. The difference is real but small.
What closes the gap:
- A claw or wing on the holster presses against your belt and rotates the grip in toward your body.
- A wedge low on the body side of the holster pushes the muzzle out, which tips the grip in further. Our wedge placement guide shows where it goes.
- A stiff gun belt keeps that leverage consistent, so the holster doesn’t sag and let the grip tip out.
If your holster lets you adjust ride height or cant, change one thing at a time and wear it for a day before judging.
Which Is Easier to Shoot?
Sig’s spec sheets can’t answer that. On paper, the P365X gives you a taller grip (4.8 vs 4.3 inches) and 12 rounds instead of 10 with the same barrel and length. Shoot both if you can.
Where the P365-XMACRO Fits
The XMACRO is the biggest of the three. Sig lists it at 5.2 inches tall and 6.6 inches long with a 3.7-inch barrel, and it takes 17-round magazines as standard. The width doesn’t change: Sig lists 1.1 inches for all three. Sig calls the P365 and P365X micro-compacts and the XMACRO a compact.
| Spec | P365 | P365X | P365-XMACRO |
|---|---|---|---|

Source: Sig Sauer’s product pages for the P365 (365-9-BXR3P), P365X (365X-9-BXR3P) and P365-XMACRO (365XCA-9-BXR3), checked October 3, 2026. Sig doesn’t say whether the 17.8 oz figure for the P365 and P365X includes a magazine, so don’t read the weight row as a like-for-like comparison. Sig’s XMACRO COMP lists the same 5.2-inch height and 6.6-inch length with a 3.1-inch barrel.
For carry, the XMACRO adds to both ends of the gun. Against the P365, it’s 0.9 inches taller (5.2 vs 4.3), which is more grip above your belt to hide. It’s also 0.8 inches longer (6.6 vs 5.8), which is more gun and holster below your belt. Carried appendix, the muzzle end of the holster is what presses into your thigh when you sit, and on the XMACRO it reaches further down. Against the P365X, the XMACRO is 0.4 inches taller and 0.8 inches longer, and holds 17 rounds to the P365X’s 12.
Don’t assume a P365 or P365X holster fits the XMACRO: Sig lists it 0.8 inches longer. Buy a holster the maker lists for the P365-XMACRO. Our P365-XMACRO holster guide covers what to look for. For a P365-XMACRO with no light, the Cloudster Pillow Standard is the size we recommend; step up to the Deluxe for a weapon light, a sidecar mag carrier or a larger build.
Holsters and the Right Cloudster Pillow Size
The P365 and P365X share the same slide, so many holsters are made for both. Sig’s own store sells holsters labeled “P365/P365X”. Check the maker’s fit list for your exact model, and whether you run a red dot or a light. See our Sig P365 holster guide for more.
For a Sig P365 without a weapon light, the Cloudster Pillow Standard is the size we recommend. The same goes for a P365X with no light. Step up to the Deluxe for a weapon light, a sidecar mag carrier or a larger build, and when in doubt, size up: a bigger pillow can be adjusted to feel smaller, but you can’t make a smaller pillow feel bigger. Our size finder takes 30 seconds, or ask us. For a step-by-step setup on this gun, see our Sig P365 IWB wedge setup guide.
The Cloudster Pillow is a soft holster wedge made of adjustable cooling-gel memory foam in a fabric cover. It attaches to the back of your holster with hook-and-loop Velcro and goes on any holster: Kydex, leather or hybrid. On leather or hybrid holsters, some owners make it semi-permanent with a dot of glue at the corners and center of the adhesive Velcro, or by lightly sanding the mounting spot with very fine-grit sandpaper. Both change your holster, so check its warranty first. We also carry Kore ratcheting gun belts for the stiff belt that holds it all together.
P365 or P365X: How to Decide
Choose the P365 if:
- Minimal printing is your top priority
- You want the shortest grip for appendix carry or deep concealment
Choose the P365X if:
- You want 12 rounds and a fuller grip
- You prefer a flat trigger
- You’re willing to set up your holster with a claw and a wedge to manage the taller grip
Choose the P365-XMACRO if:
- You want 17 rounds standard and the longest barrel of the three (3.7 inches)
- A 5.2-inch-tall, 6.6-inch-long gun already hides on you

Quick Answers
Is the P365X bigger than the P365?
Only in the grip: it’s 0.5 inch taller. Barrel, length and listed weight are the same.
Do P365 and P365X magazines interchange?
Sig sells a 10-round magazine listed for the P365, P365X and P365XL, and the P365X’s 12-round magazines fit its taller grip flush. Check Sig’s compatibility listing for the exact magazine and grip module you have.
Is the P365 optic-ready?
The original P365 isn’t, but Sig also sells an optic-ready P365 with the same RMSc optic cut as the P365X.
Does the P365X print more?
It has half an inch more grip to hide. A claw, a wedge and a stiff belt all help tuck the grip.
Is the P365-XMACRO bigger than the P365X?
Yes. Sig lists the XMACRO 0.4 inches taller (5.2 vs 4.8) and 0.8 inches longer (6.6 vs 5.8), at the same 1.1-inch width. It holds 17 rounds to the P365X’s 12.
