Mag pouches and magazine carriers — MOLLE pouches for a belt or rig, and magnetic pocket carriers for concealed carry.
There are two ways to carry a spare magazine, and they solve different problems.
MOLLE mag pouches mount to webbing on a battle belt, duty rig, chest rig or plate carrier. They are visible by design and built for speed — friction retention, no flap to unfasten, the reload is a straight pull. This is the right answer for range work, training and duty loadouts.
Magnetic pocket carriers hold the magazine by magnet inside your pocket and read as a pocket clip from the outside. Nothing mounts to your belt and nothing prints. This is the right answer for concealed everyday carry, where a pouch on the belt defeats the point.
Which magazine carrier should I use?
Carrying openly on a belt or rig — MOLLE pouch.
Carrying concealed in a pocket — magnetic pocket carrier.
Competition — a dedicated competition rig on a 1.5″ competition belt.
Mag pouch FAQ
What magazines fit a pistol mag pouch?
Double-stack pistol magazines in the common 9mm and .40 patterns. Rifle pouches take standard AR-pattern magazines.
Do MOLLE pouches need a special belt?
They need MOLLE webbing to mount to — a 1.75″ battle belt, duty rig, chest rig or plate carrier. They do not mount to a plain trouser belt.
Is a flap or friction retention better?
Friction is faster because there is nothing to unfasten, and it is what most pouches built for speed use. A flap adds security for movement-heavy use at the cost of reload time.
Can I carry a spare magazine concealed?
Yes — but not with a belt pouch, which prints. A magnetic pocket carrier holds the magazine inside the pocket and shows only a clip.
