Quick answer: The Glock 26 is a shorter Glock 19, not a thinner one. Glock lists its grip 0.87 inches shorter (4.17 vs 5.04 inches tall with the magazine) and the whole gun 0.86 inches shorter, but only 0.04 inches narrower (1.30 vs 1.34 inches). It holds 10 rounds as standard against the Glock 19’s 15, and Glock lists 15-round and longer magazines as options for it. For concealed carry, the shorter grip is the G26’s big advantage, because the grip is the part that prints. The Glock 19 gives you a full grip, 5 more rounds and a longer barrel.

Source: Glock’s official product pages for the G26 V and G19 V, us.glock.com, checked October 3, 2026. The G26 Gen5 and G19 Gen5 (listed on Glock’s law-enforcement pages) have the same figures. Glock’s Gen6 line covers the G17, G19 and G45; Glock doesn’t list a G26 Gen6. The G19 Gen6 lists the same height and length, 1.35 inches wide and 20.11 oz without a magazine.
The Difference That Matters: 0.87 Inches of Grip
When you bend, reach or sit, the bottom of the grip is what pushes out against your shirt. The G26’s grip ends 0.87 inches sooner than the Glock 19’s. For concealment, that’s the number to look at first.
The trade is your hand. A 4.17-inch grip leaves less room for your fingers than a 5.04-inch one. Hold both with a real shooting grip before you buy: does your little finger have somewhere to go on the G26, or is it hanging off the bottom?
Short, Not Thin
The G26 is barely narrower than the Glock 19: 1.30 inches against 1.34, with the same 1.0-inch slide width. Inside the waistband, it stands off your body about as far as a Glock 19 does. If width is your problem, the G26 won’t change much.
Glock’s slimline guns solve the opposite problem. The Glock 43X is thin (1.10 inches) but just as tall as a Glock 19 (5.04 inches). So the G26 is short and wide, the 43X is thin and tall, and the Glock 19 is tall and wide. Pick the one that solves the problem your body and clothes actually have. Our Glock 19 vs 43X comparison covers the thin option.
Length and Weight
The G26 is 0.86 inches shorter overall, with a slide and barrel each 0.59 inches shorter. That length sits inside the holster, below your belt. Carried appendix, the muzzle end of the holster is what presses into your thigh when you sit, so a shorter gun gives that end less to reach. Loaded, the G26 is 4.09 ounces lighter, which is less weight on your belt all day.
Magazines: One-Way Compatibility
The Glock 26 holds 10 rounds in its standard magazine. Glock lists 15-, 17- and longer magazines as options for the G26, and 15 rounds is the Glock 19’s standard capacity. A longer magazine extends below the G26’s short grip. It doesn’t work the other way: Glock’s optional magazines for the Glock 19 are 17, 24, 31 and 33 rounds, and the G26’s 10-round magazine isn’t on that list.
That lets you carry the flush 10-round magazine in the gun for concealment and a 15-round magazine as your spare. Check your state’s magazine limits first.
Making Either One Comfortable to Carry
Three things do most of the work for either gun:
- A claw or wing on the holster presses against your belt and rotates the grip in toward your body.
- A wedge low on the body side of the holster pushes the muzzle end out, which tips the grip in. For printing, keep the fill fuller and mount it low. For comfort, start in the middle on fill and move it toward the edge that digs in. Our wedge placement guide shows where it goes.
- A stiff gun belt keeps the holster from sagging. We carry Kore ratcheting gun belts.
We make the Cloudster Pillow, a soft holster wedge made of adjustable cooling-gel memory foam in a fabric cover. It attaches to the back of your holster with hook-and-loop Velcro and goes on any holster: Kydex, leather or hybrid. On leather or hybrid holsters, some owners make it semi-permanent with a dot of glue at the corners and center of the adhesive Velcro, or by lightly sanding the mounting spot with very fine-grit sandpaper. Both change your holster, so check its warranty first.
Which size? A Glock 19 takes the Deluxe. A Glock 26 takes the Standard; step up to the Deluxe if you run a weapon light, carry a sidecar mag carrier or have a larger build. When in doubt, size up: a bigger pillow can be adjusted to feel smaller, but you can’t make a smaller pillow feel bigger. Our size finder takes 30 seconds, or tell us your gun and holster and we’ll confirm. For holster setup on this gun, see our Glock 26 IWB holster guide.
Glock 26 or 19: How to Decide
Choose the Glock 26 if:
- Grip printing is your main problem
- Your hand fits the shorter grip, or you’ll use a longer magazine at the range
Choose the Glock 19 if:
- You want 15 rounds in the gun and a full grip
- Your build and clothes already hide a 5.04-inch grip
- You want one gun for carry, the range and home

Quick Answers
Is the Glock 26 much smaller than the Glock 19?
Shorter, not thinner. Glock lists it 0.87 inches shorter in height and 0.86 inches shorter in length, but only 0.04 inches narrower.
Can a Glock 26 use Glock 19 magazines?
Glock lists 15-round and longer magazines as options for the G26, and 15 rounds is the Glock 19’s standard magazine. It doesn’t work the other way: the G26’s 10-round magazine isn’t among Glock’s listed options for the Glock 19.
How many rounds does a Glock 26 hold?
10 in the standard magazine, per Glock. Longer optional magazines hold more where your state allows them.
Is the Glock 26 easier to conceal than the Glock 19?
At the grip, yes: it’s 0.87 inches shorter, and the grip is what prints. In width, the two are nearly the same.
What size Cloudster Pillow do I need?
The Standard for a Glock 26, or the Deluxe if you add a light, carry a sidecar or have a larger build. The Deluxe for a Glock 19.
