Concealed Carry Hoodie: How Pass-Through and Holster Hoodies Work

Quick answer: A concealed carry hoodie is a sweatshirt designed to hide a handgun and let you reach it. Most use a pass-through front pocket that opens to an inside-the-waistband or appendix holster underneath; some have holster pockets sewn inside. With a pass-through design, the hoodie covers the gun while your holster and belt do the carrying.

What Makes It a Concealed Carry Hoodie?

The main feature is the pocket. Arrowhead Tactical Apparel describes its line as “Comfortable and practical concealment with pass-through pockets for faster draws.” Rothco says its hoodie’s “Passthrough Kangaroo Pocket Allows For Quick And Easy Access To Your IWB Items For Appendix Carry,” with an “8.25-Inch Internal Vertical Access Point.”

Vertx describes its concealed carry hoodies as having “innovative pockets and compartments strategically placed for easy access to your firearm.”

Legendary Whitetails adds that “below each holster are pockets for your magazines.” Other makers add storage elsewhere: Rothco lists “2 Zippered Sleeve Pockets With Wire Passthrough Ports.”

Hiding the Outline

Pattern can help. The USCCA notes that “Prints and patterns can be very effective for concealed carry,” and that different colors and styles “can fool the eye and help disguise the shape or outline of a firearm.”

Under a Pass-Through Hoodie: The Holster and Belt

We don’t make or sell hoodies or other clothing. A pass-through hoodie still relies on the IWB or appendix holster underneath; see our appendix carry guide. For that holster, the Cloudster Pillow holster wedge mounts to any IWB or AIWB holster with hook-and-loop, angles the grip into your body, and has memory-foam fill you can add or remove to set its thickness. The Kore gun belts we carry are 1.5″ wide.
