Does the Cloudster Pillow Fit Vedder Holsters?

Yes. The LightTuck and the SideTuck (Vedder’s appendix holster with an attached mag carrier) are Kydex shells, and the pillow mounts with hook-and-loop on the side that faces your body. Loop strips and an alcohol wipe come with the pillow, so you have what you need for the first install. Our customers run it on the Vedder LightTuck (see their reviews below).

Vedder’s ComfortTuck and RapidTuck are hybrids with a leather backing against your body, and the ProTuck is a leather-and-Kydex hybrid. The Cloudster Pillow works on those too; it goes on any holster, whatever the material. On leather or a hybrid, some people make it semi-permanent: put small spots of glue at the corners and center of the adhesive Velcro strip, or lightly sand the spot where the strip goes with very fine-grit sandpaper first. Both change the holster, so check the holster maker’s warranty before you do either.

Vedder sells a small foam wedge and a longer foam pad for the body side of its holsters. Both are closed-cell foam wrapped in jersey fabric, and both attach with an adhesive loop-side Velcro strip. One piece instead of two

Vedder’s wedge is built to draw the top of the gun in toward the body, and its pad is built to cushion the holster against the body. The Cloudster Pillow is one piece: on a Vedder holster you set it up for both grip tuck and cushioning, and more fill tips the grip in further.

Thickness you set, not a fixed block

Vedder’s wedge comes in one size, 3.1 inches by 2.6 inches by 0.5 inch, and its pad can be trimmed along sizing lines to one of four sizes. The Cloudster Pillow comes in four sizes, Mini, Standard, Deluxe and Monster, and you open the hook-and-loop closure to add or remove shredded cooling gel memory foam for a personalized fit. That matters on a Vedder holster: more fill tips the grip in further and less fill is subtler, so you tune one pillow instead of swapping pieces.

The choice between the two sizes is yours. For larger body frames we recommend sizing up: a larger pillow can always be made to feel smaller by taking some fill out, but a smaller pillow can’t be made to feel bigger. Not sure? How to Install a Cloudster Pillow on a Vedder Holster

  1. Unload and remove the gun from the holster.
  2. Take off any Vedder wedge or HolsterPad that’s on the holster now.
  3. Clean the body side of the holster with the included alcohol wipe and let it dry.
  4. Stick the loop strip on the body side, starting low toward the muzzle end; adjust to taste, since there is no fixed spot.
  5. Press the pillow on. Our adhesive reaches full strength after 24 hours, so give it a day before heavy use if you can.
  6. Wear it and check standing, sitting and bending. The grip should tuck in, and the holster’s bottom edge should be cushioned instead of pressing into you.
  7. Tune the fill. More fill tips the grip in further; less fill is subtler. If anything pokes, adjust the position or the fill until it feels right. Our wedge placement guide has the details.
