The Vedder LightTuck is one of the most popular IWB Kydex holsters in concealed carry. It’s affordable, ships with a soft-side panel, and Vedder includes their own little foam wedge in the box. So why are so many Vedder users swapping that foam wedge out for the Cloudster Pillow? Comfort and adjustability — the two things bare foam can’t deliver over a 12-hour carry day.
Does the Cloudster Pillow Fit Vedder Holsters?
Yes — every Vedder IWB and AIWB Kydex holster. That includes the LightTuck, ComfortTuck, RapidTuck, SideTuck, MiniTuck, and the Vedder AIWB. The Vedder backplate is flat Kydex (or hybrid Kydex + leather), which is exactly what the Cloudster Pillow’s hook-and-loop attachment is designed for.
If your Vedder shipped with their stock OleTex foam wedge attached via Velcro, the Cloudster Pillow drops onto the same Velcro panel — pull the Vedder wedge off, press the Cloudster on, done. If you didn’t get a wedge, an industrial loop strip is included with the Cloudster.
Which Cloudster Pillow Size Works Best With Vedder?
| Vedder Holster | Recommended Size | Why |
|---|---|---|
| MiniTuck (subcompact) | Mini | Smallest holster footprint — Mini matches the panel without overhang. |
| LightTuck (most popular) | Standard | The Standard size fits the LightTuck panel cleanly across compact and full-size pistols. |
| ComfortTuck / RapidTuck (hybrid) | Standard | Hybrid leather backing already adds some comfort — Standard handles the muzzle pressure. |
| SideTuck (dual-clip, larger frames) | Deluxe | Bigger holster, wider weight distribution — Deluxe gives the right surface area. |
| Vedder AIWB with light | Deluxe or Monster | Light-bearing setup needs more wedge below the bezel to keep the muzzle off your skin. |
Why Vedder Users Replace the Stock Wedge With Cloudster Pillow
The stock Vedder OleTex foam wedge does its job for a few hours. But it’s a fixed-shape closed-cell foam block — no adjustability, no cushion, no breathability. The four reasons we hear from Vedder customers who switch:
- Hard foam = pressure points after 4 hours. Closed-cell foam doesn’t compress and reshape over time; the same point in your abdomen takes the same pressure all day. Cloudster’s shredded cooling-gel memory foam redistributes with every movement.
- No fill adjustment on the Vedder wedge. If your body shape, pistol, or holster setup changes, you replace the wedge. The Cloudster Pillow opens with hook-and-loop closure — add fill for more rotation, remove for subtlety.
- Foam-to-skin contact, no fabric layer. The Vedder wedge has no fabric cover. In summer heat, the foam absorbs sweat and gets musty. Cloudster’s bamboo cover (White) or cotton cover (Dark / Camo) wicks moisture and stays soft.
- One size only. Vedder ships a single wedge size in the LightTuck. If you’re a bigger build, run a full-size pistol, or just want more printing reduction, you can’t dial it up. Cloudster comes in four sizes.
How to Replace Your Vedder Wedge With a Cloudster Pillow
- Pull off the Vedder OleTex wedge. If it’s Velcro-attached, peel it off — the loop strip on the holster stays in place. If it’s adhesive-bonded, lift gently with your fingernail; rubbing alcohol helps.
- Confirm the loop strip is intact. If yours is the Velcro version, you’re ready. If your Vedder didn’t ship with one, peel and stick the included Cloudster Pillow loop strip to the body-facing Kydex.
- Press the Cloudster Pillow on. Position the thickest part nearest the muzzle. Press firmly for 10 seconds.
- Holster up and check. The grip should rotate inward more than it did with the Vedder wedge — that’s the extra leverage doing its job.
- Test for an hour of normal activity. Sit, drive, lean. Pay attention to where pressure builds.
- Tune the fill. Open the pillow’s closure. Add fill if you want more grip rotation; remove some if the holster is now sitting too far off the body.
What Vedder Customers Are Saying
“OMG! Have tried other wedges with no luck. Saw the Cloudster Pillow and figured I’d give it a try. SO happy I did! Very comfortable and easy to adjust for a perfect carry position. I can now carry IWB with zero pain. Took a 2 hour nap with it on.”
— Mike Z. — Nashua, NH
“Confidently Carry Elite. Bought a Vedder wedge but there was not enough leverage. The comfortability and ability to tilt the grip inward is completely ideal. I am a conceal-over-comfort guy, but this is 100% both.”
— Michael C. — Philadelphia, PA
“Best wedge option. Wish I would have purchased this sooner. I’ve tried different wedges from Tier1, Vedder, etc and this pillow is the best by far. The others are hard and uncomfortable when you carry all day, and create pressure points.”
— Jose G. — Charlotte, NC
“Best wedge!! This is a game changer!! Carry my EDC more comfortable!! Love that you can add more packaging. I have had this product for a few months now. I am using the Cloudster Pillow with a Vedder LightTuck.”
— Victor S. — Sterling, VA
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I keep my Vedder wedge or switch fully to the Cloudster Pillow?
Most customers do a clean swap. The Cloudster Pillow does what the Vedder wedge does — angle the grip inward — but with adjustable fill, fabric covering, and far better long-wear comfort. Save the Vedder wedge as a backup or use it on a different holster.
Will the Cloudster Pillow fit a Vedder LightTuck for a Glock 19?
Yes. The Standard size is the most common pairing for a LightTuck + Glock 19. If you carry IWB at 4 o’clock with a stiffer belt, you can usually run the Standard with reduced fill. For appendix carry, keep the fill higher.
Does the Cloudster Pillow work with Vedder hybrid holsters (ComfortTuck / RapidTuck)?
Yes. The leather backing on hybrid models doesn’t change the install — the Cloudster Pillow attaches to the Kydex shell, not the leather panel. Standard size is the right pick for both.
Will I need a stiffer belt after adding the Cloudster Pillow?
Not specifically because of the pillow — but if you didn’t already have a real gun belt, get one regardless of which wedge you use. A 1.5″ reinforced belt distributes the holster + pistol weight and prevents the entire rig from sagging, which destroys concealment for any wedge setup.
Can I move the Cloudster Pillow between my Vedder and another holster?
Yes. The pillow itself is the only piece you move — the loop strip stays bonded to whichever holster you stick it to. The Cloudster ships with extra loop strips so you can keep one bonded on each holster and just swap the pillow.
